FAWG is a group formed by David Matthews, it has an extensive network including several local Land Owners/Farmers, Environment Agency, Black Sluice and Welland & Deepings IDBs, Wild Planet, HFU, Lincolnshire County Council, Greater Lincolnshire LEP, UKIA, Savills, Brown and Co and Roythornes Solicitors. It also has close links with, South Lincs Water Partnership, WRE, Cranfield University, Supermarket links, DEFRA and RPA. It aims to secure additional water resources in the South Lincs fens for multi-sector/ multi-functional use in the Black Sluice IDB catchment near Spalding in Lincolnshire. The group provides a forum for information sharing and influencing several major development initiatives that support increasing available water resources, including water for agriculture. The initiatives include the Boston to Peterborough Wetland Corridor which is part of the Fenland Waterway Link whose next phase will involve local land owners along the South Forty-Foot drain, increasing collaborative multi-function reservoir storage as an integral part of the South Links Water Partnership which feeds into the Anglian Waters Water Resources East programme, securing more water as part of the Greater Lincolnshire Water for Growth programme; and reducing flood risk in the South Forty-Foot drain in association with the Black Sluice IDB and the Environment Agency flood risk consultation.
